I’m learning by trial and error, more error than trial as at least with a trial you have to do something before your tried. That being the case, the claims many of the big providers, beit Comcast, Cable-One , TWC and others just are not accurate. At least in rural or near rural areas. Now one could say that Utah’ Metro area is urban, I call it Urban-Rural. or switched more still rural than so much urban. Sure the population density is thick here, its called LDS massive breeding, ever wonder why mini vans sell so good here? A subject for another time, but the extension and development of optic fiber like is going on in the Provo area of Utah, that is experiencing Google’s fiber connections, should be up further north. Maybe someday. But whether its Idaho, Wyoming or even Utah, no provider is going to provide seamless none interrupted and ultra powerful service that the claims would have you believe. The questions start at why not? If the numbers work, and all of that why develop the technology as well as the infrastructure to accommodate the requirements of more people running more data, and entertainment over the web.
Some say a T-1 is good, but even that has glitches. It’s a system based on very ancient technology and planning. Yes the government says it has expert techs, but consider Obamabeenlyin’s Health care web site. There needs to be bigger pipelines.
That said, when it comes to installations of these systems, a simple cable line installer is not going to cut it. The person stringing the wire, should have extensive training in IT tech, so if there is a problem they can handle it onsite when there is a need and it be as near foolproof BEFORE they leave. Not make a consumer and especially a specialty business jump through hoops just to get it right.
However that said, many are not in areas of IT techs running down the streets or stores all over. Hell even the Geek Squad has troubles. If you call them up, they want you to unplug your main box haul it down to them and they might, I say might be able to remedy the malady. So in years gone by, I have purposely learned, fixes as well as work arounds. The first time I ran into this type of thing was when I lived in Goon’s Ferry the first time in the mouse house, of April Espanosa. That cardboard house needs to be knocked down , another subject for another time, but I was working on a completely new fully accessorized computer. But connections and other flaws were rampant. So I started reading, I got good at temp fixes, since at 03:00 hours on air when something quits there is no person available. Unlike toew bros who are all the time 24 hours ready to respond at a moments notice. There is no other group of people other than toewers, fire fighters, cops, or air med pilots that knows that in these professions there is no such thing as a day or time off. 17:00 hours, when most are heading to brew city, us in toewing are taking our next stride. Another subject for another time, but I realized if your going to rebel fight the system radio even in northern redneck territory and there is a big difference between being a rebel southern redneck, and a yankee redneck. Mostly that southern bred and raised rednecks are just plain smarter. There is little long lasting sustained cold that freezes brain fluid, thus southern youth gain more knowledge faster. Plus retain it. Any mile. You learn where things go, what doing this will do or what doing that will do.
Of course we have those that work for simple paychecks. The desire to perfect an installation, and isn’t it funny, that Comcast, one of the largest cable-tv/information providers in the nation, that owns NBC-Universal now, and is expanding into Wyoming, has hired installers that are contracted through sub contractors. Comcast should ought to hire more people, train them in IT or computer tech and electronics, not just hooking up the line. When there is a problem, just don’t gripe there is no phone, that your company provides doesn’t work, get off thy butt, put down the Budweiser , and go to the location, sit down with the customer and discuss the current problem as well what’s in the future.
Consider this, in months to come HazzardAyre’s parent, will be constructing a 50,000 square foot facility, on the edge of West Haven and west Ogden. Multiple production rooms, on air facilities, office with up front office people, plus the TV station, with even more production rooms, studios, and news rooms. This is part of a test for any telecom, or cable Internet provider company, if they can’t get one tiny computer in a front room office/studio working properly, with phone systems etc, how the heck are they going to digest and stomach hundreds of computers, in those studios, production rooms, news rooms and even front office and traffic, reception areas, with Internet and phone? Confederate Steele Media has a commitment from various deep pocket firms in this nation totaling somewhere in the $25,million dollar range, for the first 4 years of operation. As the ops director, of Confederate Steele Media owned in whole by the Knytes-of-Anarchy/AyreWolvez Military Aviation Association, I’ll be damned if I’m to let $25 mil, go in the toilet due to a poor provider.
Our sweet Laura wrote me in an email, she was limited in her ability to fix all of this, I agree, but a quick phone call from her to the who that can, and a real expert, in IT Tech, get in their vehicle, drive up here and and fix the problems? Oh sure no phone, but I’m getting emails now how about one of those people, sending me an email and saying, that they’ll be there on such or such date and time?
Finally, our friend Dan, that you know does not have much money maybe $10,000 a month in rental income and some part time at HAFB, but he comes over with somebody that looks like a refuge from some dope farm, but they come in to fix some minor leaks and install my dryer. It was like watching two monkey’s trying to screw one football.
Is this demise of decreased mental abilities of our population due to drugs by mothers during pregnancy, a severely lacking resources educational system, or just plain being stupid Yankee’s?
