Going from the stupid to the sublime

NYTE MOVES

As I pack tonight and begin to plan to deploy resources to finish up the move to Ogden, I think too, going from prehistoric TV newscasts to ones produced and delivered, by some very super professional news organizations. All those things Brian at KPIF out of Pocatello, and others who said the Tragic Valley will never have the caliber of newscasts that Salt Lake City does. Not that Twin Falls couldn’t have a high caliber operation, but KMVT and its GM wont let anyone slip in here , if he can’t buy you out, he’ll trash you to the point you just quit. He did it to Fox 35 and then swooped in like an owl on a mouse in a field. Of course going beyond that KMVT has a few news reporters that should be Anchors, but as long as Joe Martin is there, that won’t happen. Further Joe is getting to long in the tooth and just no longer should be on a station poised to grow, but is mired by old baggage.Rachel Holt is the one I have my eyes on, I look to see her in the Utah market b4 too long she’s that good. But there are too many other premadonnas there that keep Rachel from getting the good stories.

Not saying every station in Utah does not have their occasional screwed up newscasts. The one I remember most is KUTV-2. They would continually have tech problems, but their people all top notch, Jodi Saeland down there that I met doing weather at KSTU FOX 13, is so dang cute you just want to cuddle up to her. Her forecasts were right on, if she said snow it was time to fuel the tow trucks cuzz you knew the morning commute was going to be busy. Unlike KMVT here, the only weather caster worth listening to, and he’s off more than on, I thought his name was Brian NewDork. Which pretty much fit.  Then there’s Aimee Burnett, one helluva news anchor except for her voice, she’s still yelling at still an octave too high. Her delivery needs to be more melodic, not so gruff .

Any mile , much to do, looks like one or two of our films will get a Utah Film Award, so looking forward to that, Maybe in time Chris the GM at KMVT will leave the competitors alone.
