One of the most competitive and certainly challenging types of company’s at least professions is us in toewing.

You spend a heap amount of money even in my day in April 1978, when Dave Coffellt gave me the keys to LexiBelle, $10,000.00 was a bunch of denaro. Today a good light duty toew truck, will set you back at least $30k, if not more. Its what you do with it and how you treat those that call for your service that keeps toewing, not just owing. Over the years I have worked with and was taught by some of the best in the business. No matter location these men taught a heavy footed hot rod gear head how to toew. Thing started with Johnny Nausbaum. Johnny’s Towing. Certainly the most knowledgeable. There was no rig Jon couldn’t recover or toew. Then of course Dave Coffeltt of Valley Towing & Radiator on South Park Street in Twin Falls, the Best place to take a leak, where I first saw the wink, and felt the warmth of Lexi. Even then her eyes said take me home, more on that in the morning.

Then came Tommy N Thompson, TNT Towing of Boise. Tommy taught me a lot of things that I use today. Then Denny Jones of Denny’s Wrecker Service of Pocatello, Perry Bullock Bullocks Towing Salt Lake City. But its not just how they run the trucks its how they run the business and how they treat customers. Lets face it nobody wants to have to call us. Don’t matter what tow service you are, people who call us are going to be in a very crappy mood. Their ride of choice and heart just became disabled no matter the cause of fault. If you treat customers like a cheetah looking at a gazelle you’ll get one tow from that customer, especially if you try to overcharge or gouge them. If on the other hand you treat people with compassion and understanding, you’ll get repeat and word of mouth referrals.

Being clean and modern, Of all the companies in the state of Idaho except of course us here at Highway Hooker/Dixie Wolf Toewing, the best , most technologically advanced modern company in Idaho, is my friend and bean counters firm A1 Towing & Repair. Every truck is spit polished and shines. Floors are so clean you could eat off of them. Drivers for the most part except for 4 that I’d like to kick their ass, for treating Charlie and saying what they do behind Charlie’s back. More on that in a few, here. But A1 is THEE toew service for the Canyon rim and Twin Falls Idaho, while Highway Hooker/DixieWolf Toewing is three state wide. My only wish is eventually I can at least become a mirror of A1. Yet with all the success and no older than 10 years on each truck, Charlie is one person that has a heart as big as the Everglades. That man I have seen slip out $30.00 bucks to someone if they needed it. Cut a price or even gave away tires, wheels, and services. And those that bad mouth Charlie at his place, I’d give the boot. Because if it were not for Charlie many would be in jail, on the street hungry and drugged out. Charlie gives out a house, or apartment, good equipment and a good wage. These people giving Charlie bad lip service ought to be kissing his butt. It’s just like today, I went over to a shop, here in town Millers Automotive. Mostly to get somebody ANYBODY to put the fuel tank on LexiBelle, plus fix the parking brake on Wolf-Pup. The minute the guy there started bitching about some Bronco or Explorer that Charlie owed him for and calling Charlie a leach and a no payer, to name a few comments was the time I walked out, and wont go to again. One does not bad mouth Charlie around me.

A year ago Thanksgiving Charlie fed nearly 50 people, employees, families of employees, friends etc. Christmas of 2012 same thing nearly 75 people ate at Charlie’s home. Charlie didn’t have to, but he gave, and although I wanted to, Charlie will not take anything for it. His other half Jenn, told me that Charlie would get mad if I got a gift or card for Charlie. While Charlie may not be able to walk on water as I joke about, if someone wanted to see a man who truly walks like Jesus, it is Charles Legg of A1 Towing, and if you want to see the powerhouse of Idaho towing, in the most heart warming look, this is it>

That is Charlie.

So your question if I love Charlie and A1 so much why are you leaving? Part of it is Charlies other half Jenn, the rest is Twin Falls city. More on that in the AM, by the way these are some of A1’s rigs, this one is Charlies Pride> any mile, will see ya’ll in the wee hours of Wednesday.
